Workshop - The complementarity of practices (tools for contemporary dance artists)

The workshop offered for Transformation 2026 is multifaceted. For one week, we will use various types of training, practices, and exercises that have benefited me since the beginning of my professional journey and that continue to inspire me today. Given the multifaceted nature of contemporary dance artistry, our training must be substantial. We will explore technique, improvisation, movement meditation (Qi Gong), cardio, bodywork (massage and self-massage), partner work, relaxation, and more. The connection we forge with our breath and the integrity of body, heart, and mind will be guiding principles throughout the week. We will warm up, dance, and work on appropriately concluding each session. Time for reflection and discussion is also included. Working solo, in pairs, and in groups, the workshop is designed to approach form through sensation. Focusing on the process rather than the result, the workshop acts as a quest to connect with our inner vibration while remaining open to the environment and external demands. It is both profound and simple.
Participants are invited to wear comfortable clothing and bring a notebook and pen.
